Venus as a boy is the breakout single of debut and one of bjork's most successful and famous songs. The song was released as the second single to the record. The song takes a more jazz focused style, reminiscent of the Gling-Glo album; an album of Icelandic Jazz covers from 3 years prior. The song is about a man who has a lot of sexual desires and fertility, comparing him as the male version of the roman goddess, Venus. The song peaked at number 1 in her home country of iceland, and reached 29 on the UK charts in 1993.
Lyrics[]
His wicked sense of humour
Suggests exciting sex
His fingers focus on her
Touches, he's Venus as a boy
He believes in a beauty
He's Venus as a boy
He's exploring
The taste of her
Arousal
So accurate
He sets off
The beauty in her
He's Venus as a boy
